Hayek's opened in 1918 and it was the heart of Shorewood for 100 years. Three generations of Hayeks served customers. For many children, the path home from school went through Hayek's to buy outstanding candy for pennies and dimes. Many would later work at Hayek's during high school and college. It was a quintessential local pharmacy and its iconic signage, shown on this vintage long-sleeve t-shirt, made it a landmark. It was “Shorewood's Finest Drug Store”.
