One Moment Please to wear this vintage long-sleeve t-shirt and reflect on the classic independent programming Channel 18 provided us in the 1970s and 80s. It was the go-to for Monty Python's Flying Circus, The Benny Hill Show, The Bowling Game, HeeHaw, All-Star Wrestling, Love American Style, The Beverly Hillbillies, and many other shows. When we turned the TV dial to see what was airing on a lazy Saturday, “The Saturday Afternoon Movie” had a way of sucking us in. NewsWatch 18 was solid too with Jayne Jeffery and theme music that got our attention. The Oklahoma Publishing Company purchased the UHF station in 1965 and branded it as “Milwaukee’s Independent Television Station.” It had a powerful UHF signal, and in 1968, broadcast at 1,892,000 watts. Channel 18 delivered excellent alternative programming and almost always came in if only to show us, “One Moment Please.”
