Sherman Park's co-op tavern, The Interlude, was a novel approach to developing community and paved the way for today's Riverwest Public House. The Interlude, located on 40th & Vliet in a striking German Renaissance Revival architectural beauty, had an iconic copper dome and spiral which was like a beacon for adults and their children in the 80s. It represented the best of Milwaukee and had excellent food, games, music, and beer. The spirit of The Interlude was stronger than its operation, but it brought neighbors and families together at a corner tavern, which is pretty cool.
